Twas the Night Before Christmas

Enjoy.

Twas the week before Christmas, all thru the paint store
Everybody was cleaning, not a drop to be on the floor.
The buckets stacked by the tinter with care
Secretly hoping Ronnie wouldn’t soon be there.

The the warehouse stocked, all paint in its spots
While Chris and Josh talked about doing some shots.
Mark smoked a cigarette, said he had to go
Michelle and Grady hated how it’d gotten so slow.

When out by the pond there rose such a clatter,
Chris turned off myspace to see what was the matter.
Away to the window Mike flew like a flash,
Rick Rodda said “What the hell?” and sat on his ass.

The glare of headlights coming from a new van
Made it hard for us to recognize the tall lanky man.
Rick Owens stopped solitaire and started to stand
While through the front door came 8 new Mexicans.

With a cranky old boss man, so demanding and fun,
I knew in a moment it could be only one.
Dan Nolan, a challenge, (I won’t call him a jerk).
With his hombre buddies who knew how to work.

“Now Juan and Jose, get some brushes and naps!
Don’t forget thinner, you know where it’s at!
Antonio, Jesus we need thinner and stain
Get your ass to work don’t make me tell you again!

Franko, Carlos, you two are gonna be painting the walls
Don’t speak Spanish or I’ll be bustin ya balls!
Erik and Jorge, you get some caulk for every crack
Don’t be slacking…I know where you came across at”.

He was smiling and cheerful, a wonderful ol’ boy
With every smile it was like receiving a new toy.
Pleasant and cheering, I’ll say no more.
We all got excited when he came to the store.

He had goodies and candies, overflowing his coat
(His painting was perfect in every stroke).
Scholar and gentleman, oh what fun!
In all of our books, Dan Nolan’s number one

As he drove away in his white sparkling ride
We all felt better about ourselves inside.
Rolled down the windows and managed to yell back
"Hurry up with the paint, I need a perfect match!"
