blah......... Christmas time is on us and it seems that I can't ever get the Christmas spirit back that I used to have when I was younger. Remember not knowing what you would get for Christmas, waking up every year wonder what Santa brought you, and regardless of what it was you were the happiest kid in the world?
I got a secondhand bicycle one year that my dad got at a yardsale or somewhere used. It wasn't a 'gently used'; it had seen it's battles. However, the fact that my dad sacrificed and got me a bicycle that Christmas was fantastic. After my dad passed my mother had to be Santa for my three brothers and me. Looking back I'm amazed at how every year my mother managed to buy us any presents at all.
These days Christmas is more like the rape of an idea. $500 and $600 dollar PS3s that kids have to have; clothing that they subsequently don't wear; and presents that they are not grateful for.
We have become a nation of egocentric and self-centered people who have passed down this trait to the children. It's all about me, me, me. Christmas simply showcases this trait.
Christmas is no longer the pure holiday it used to be. I like presents as much as the next; who doesn't. But that's not what Christmas is about.
Christmas is about friends, family, and love. I'd like to see Hallmark wrap up any of the three.

Stop bein a GRINCH....and spread some TRUE Christmas cheer! Drink some egg nog, fire up that yule log, roast some chestnuts on an open fire, hear the sliegh bells ring....are you listening?
SANTA is coming and we've got to be nice and not end up on the naughty list...leave him some cookies and some milk....have you hung your stockings by the fire with care? Do you know Dasher, and Dancer, and Prancer, and Vixen? Comet, and Cupid, and Donner, and Blitzen? But can you still recall the most FAMOUS reindeer of all?
America's idea of what Christmas truly means is goin in the shitter, but we can demonstrate and choose ourselves to get back to some of the old styles of celebrating Christmas!
So follow old Rudolph's nose to what should bring you back to that nostalgic Christmas cheer! Remember what that giddiness to wake up on Christmas morning to be with the ones you love and discern whether or not the big fat man in red actually left those bite marks in the cookies or not?
Christmas is a time when all people young and old have a pass to go back and feel like a kid again. Making people smile and smelling the aroma of all those goodies cooking and feeling the warmth of love in your house.
Look deep in your heart and reach deep into your childhood memories for that magic that Father Christmas left imprinted on your heart so long ago....it never left you....you just seemed to have misplaced it.
Merry Christmas Everyone!!!
